The Southeastern Connecticut Regional Resources Recovery Authority (SCRRRA) announced today a 10-year Solid Waste Disposal Agreement with Wheelabrator Lisbon Inc., on behalf of its 12 member municipalities commencing January 1,2021.  The SCRRRA member communities include East Lyme, Griswold, Groton, Ledyard, Montville, New London, North Stonington, Norwich, Preston, Sprague, Stonington and Waterford.  The request for proposals and subsequent negotiations took several years to finalize.  SCRRRA’s Board of Directors is very pleased with the outcome which will provide its members and their residents continuance of many years of solid waste disposal at a favorable, predictable cost in a waste to energy facility.  While final waste disposal will shift from a Preston Facility to a Lisbon facility the move is expected to be transparent for residents and is in the continued support of the State of Connecticut’s DEEP environmental goals.

Specific questions should be directed to Mr. David Aldridge, SCRRRA’s Executive Director at 7 Hurlbutt Road, Gales Ferry, CT  06335.
